Friday Evening Midtown Walkabout

Friday afternoon Leena wanted to go to Macy's, so I grabbed my camera, walked her to Macy's then I spent the next hour and a half or so walking around Midtown snapping evening and night shots.

I carried my 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, intending to get a shot of the big New York City post office, since it's too big for any other lens, or even wide-angle iPhone camera...

As usual, bringing photos in from Picasa didn't bring in the captions...  They're all here...

Roosevelt Island on a Chilly Drizzly Sunday Afternoon

I took Leena over to Roosevelt Island just to sightsee a bit and get out of the apartment on a chilly, drizzly Sunday afternoon.  I'd been once before and wanted to walk up as far north as the light house, which wasn't accessible as the paths were blocked by fences.

We passed by The Octogon, all that remains of the New York City Lunatic Asylum, which is now the lobby for some apartment buildings.

I was almost obsessed with some black buildings across the river and brightly lit trees in between, taking photos from different angles and exposures...
