Sunset from the High Line

Saturday evening I was on the High Line, just having finished my book, when the sun was setting, so I walked south on it, stopping here and there to take photos of the sun setting behind New Jersey, across the Hudson River.

Taken with my 100-300mm lens...

  1. What a gorgeous view, I love the High Line although it can get awfully crowded.

Thanks for always commenting on my blog, it makes me feel like I'm not talking to myself :)

    P.S. I can't believe you don't like hot dogs!

  2. Thanks for the compliment on the photos. I love the High Line park, too. I go there almost every weekend at least once. In the winter there are far fewer crowds on it and it can be more relaxing. With the new section, between 20th & 30th Streets, though, there's a lot more seating, especially from 28th to 30th Streets, so I've spent quite a bit of time just reading books there and watching people go by...

It's fun reading there, as people see my book and sometimes stop to chit chat about the topic (the one book I read almost all summer was about India).

I've never really liked hot dogs. Even as a little kid I didn't like them. For a while I tried them with chocolate chips, which was an improvement, but still not good. I think it's the texture more than anything that I don't like... The last time I had one was in March 2007 when my late ex-uncle made some. I suppose now that I'm in NYC I should try one from like Papaya Dog or a famous one known for good hot dogs, just to see...

I know what you mean about the blog thing... I wonder if people read what I write. Then again, most of my posts start as emails to my wife, since the visa process is taking longer than we expected, so I know she reads those... I know people read the copies I put on Facebook, too...

I like your New York City adventures. Some parallel mine, and some are quite different...
